Raw foods, simply explained

Chris, my brother-in-law and co-founder of Adventure Naturals explains raw foods in plain, easy to understand language. It’s as easy as apple pie to understand, so watch and learn. Also, don’t forget; we are still raising our startup funds on Kickstarter. We have 40 days left to meet our $5,000 goal. Anything helps, even giving at the $5 level means more than you will ever know. That is the beauty of crowd funding. Hundreds of people can donate a small amount and make a HUGE difference.

These people are misguided. Cooking will increase the nutritional value of many foods. I know people on a raw food diet who have lost all their teeth. Remember that however well meaning these people are selling you a product – their raw snacks. Ear salad if you want. But if you need “snacks” consider that maybe it would be better to eat real food such as that your ancestors evolved with – cooked grains fruits vegetables and meats. Don’t get ill over some warped ideology.

David, cooking will not increase the nutritional value of any food, although certain foods are more easily digested when cooked, such as potatoes. But most foods are more easily digested when eaten raw (fruits, veggies, nuts, etc) Even some grains can be consumed raw. Also, our ancestors had a high raw food diet, some would even saw it was all raw. There is no denying there is a huge benefit to consuming raw foods, but nobody here is advocating an all raw food lifestyle. And those you might know that lost their teeth were probably not consuming enough of the right foods. I was on a diet that was close to 80% raw for a full year, and my current diet is still around 50% raw.

    Hey David,
In response to the raw food episode, you mentioned cooking will increase the nutritional value of many foods. I would like to say throughout my research, this isn’t the case.
Now, I will agree that some foods, like tomatoes when cooked will increase the antioxidant lycopene, but other nutrients suffer within the tomatoes due to heat. The same can be said about other foods. We all know that when you eat more fruits raw and veggies raw or slightly steamed it’s better for your health. Also eating salads are a great way to incorporate healthier foods into the diet. We created Adventure Naturals for those on the go, people seeking quick healthy options without the hassle of preparing foods and for those who look to boost their nutritional intake due to active lifestyles.
Our ideology is of common sense, we are not promoting eating 100% raw, we’re promoting healthy eating through real food. The use of organic cooked ancient grains, i.e. quinoa, millet & amaranth, raw fruits & veggies, plenty of greens, free range eggs, beans, legumes, nuts, seeds and grass fed meats (if one so chooses). Eating these types of foods will not make one ill as you suggested, but eating processed foods, fast foods and ones that are loaded with synthetic ingredients is setting one up for disease.
